What You Need to Know…
The UK Government has announced that from 1st June 2025, it will become illegal for businesses to sell or supply all single-use vapes across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. From this date, products will only be compliant if they are Refillable and Rechargeable.
Single-use disposable vape products, are now being replaced with reusable alternatives that have a rechargeable battery, can be refilled (or use a refill container available for purchase), and feature a replaceable coil, either within a prefilled pod or available separately.

Prefilled pod systems are vaping devices which use pre-filled e-liquid cartridges (pods) instead of having a refillable tank. The devices are rechargeable, making these products compliant to the new regulations.

When will the disposable vape ban come into effect?
The government’s single-use vape ban will officially come into effect on Sunday 1st June 2025, and retailers will have to clear their stock of disposable vapes by this date (view more information on GOV.UK). Business that continue to sell disposable vapes will face potential fines or legal action.
What does the ban mean for vape consumers?
From 1st June 2025, any vapes legally on sale in the UK must be reusable, meaning that they can be recharged and refilled. Consumers who vape will still have access to a wide range of vaping products, including reusable versions of prefilled pod vapes or refillable vape devices.
Regardless of whether they are reusable, vapes should be properly recycled to ensure critical materials are not wasted and to protect the environment. Supreme PLC, ELFBAR and B&M partnered in 2024 to roll out an innovative vape recycling scheme in over 700 B&M stores nationwide. All vape retailers should offer a ‘take back’ service for used vapes, pods, coils, and batteries. Consumers can find their nearest vape recycling point here.
What does the ban mean for retailers?
By the 1st June 2025, all retailers must stop selling or supplying disposable vapes. This means any stock must be sold or safely disposed of before this deadline. Retailers could face civil sanctions or criminal penalties if they continue to sell any disposable vape products after this deadline.
What happens if a business breaches the ban law?
Regardless of where your business is located within the UK, retailers that breach the single-use vape ban will face fines or potential legal action. View more details here: GOV.UK – If you get caught selling or supplying a single-use vape from 1 June 2025
